VITORIA-GASTEIZ, Spain (AP) — Alaves beat Getafe 1-0 to leapfrog the visitor and move into 10th place in the Spanish league on Saturday.

Forward Carlos Vincente used one touch to control a lobbed pass by Rubén Duarte and struck a powerful shot that goalkeeper David Soria got his hands on but could not keep out in the 12th minute.

Quique García also hit the crossbar for Alaves.

The win came one day after Alaves coach Luis García Plaza agreed to extend his contract through 2026. He has coached the Basque club since last season when he helped it win promotion from the second division.

Getafe fell to 11th.

This was the only Spanish league game on Saturday. The rest of the penultimate round will be played on Sunday with the remaining relegation spot and berths for the Europa League and Conference League still to be determined.
